SMEs (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) need constant innovation to be able to survive and thrive in today’s uncertain business environment. SMEs also help to spur economic growth and thereby creating new job opportunities for people. Today there are portals which offer free online platform that make it easy for SMEs there to access loans from banks and other financial institutions. SMEs that access the online marketplace have easy, fast, and efficient access to resources that can help them to innovate, develop, and also finance a project. Similarly Aman Overseas has taken similar initiatives to provide recruitment solutions for SMEs to help them grow while focusing on their core business offering.

Innovation such as the one discussed above bring help to bring about convenience in that a huge network of banks can easily help satisfy the funding needs of the SMEs. This is something that can be introduced in the UAE to help spur economic growth.

The other thing that the SME employers who are seeking to grow in 2015 can do to their businesses is to help improve the skills of their employees. This is something that if done will help bring about new opportunities to the business and hence increase profitability. In order to achieve this, employees should be given the right training just at the beginning of the calendar year.

Several SMEs in upcoming markets have often overlooked the issue of employee training something that has only hampered their growth negatively. Businesses such as these should therefore conduct a sweeping transformation in the crucial strategy of the SME and also integrate changes in the business objectives. If all these are done carefully then success is what will follow and more job opportunities together with increased profit margins will be realized.

SMEs should go the extra mile by going beyond boundaries be the role model for other businesses to follow. A good example Falafel, a Dubai SME that today has a presence in several countries. It’s important to be unique and come up with your own niche in the market to stay ahead.

The resolutions of this New Year should be based on focusing on the basics which include looking back and taking stock of the past year and making amendments where it is due.

Modi Express- Indian Prime Minister Inspires Hundreds of Supporters to Trek to Sydney

More than 200 Indians are eager to catch the Modi Express; a train that takes 12 hours from Melbourne to Sydney. The aim of the journey is to hear Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister speak. The charismatic guy from Northern India, who rose from being a tea vendor to the highest office in the world’s biggest democracy, inspires quite a number of individuals. Rakesh Raizada who is one of his admirers, says the PM possesses charisma that had been missing in India to date. Raizada and his wife were among the 220 Indians who wanted to attend Modi’s public address. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to have visited Australia after Rajiv Gandhi in 1986.

In Australia, it is very rare to find people exited over a public speech by a leader. This has however not deterred the enthusiastic Modi followers from striving to hear what he has in store for them. Mr. Raizada said that after so many years, the phenomenon, excitement and huge wave that had hit Indians remained unparalleled. This comes from a man who moved to Kenya after disillusionment by successive Indian governments. While in Kenya, he was a managing director of a bank. He then moved to Australia where he settled with his family.

While in Australia, he realized hard work was recognized, more so over social connections. This was lacking in his homeland which was dominated by the class system. He however did not have to wait for long to see the change he desired when Modi vied to be the country’s Prime Minister. He called it a new revolution.

Mr. Raizaki referred to Modi as the name instead of the party. He also said the PM carried votes on his shoulders after 34 years, winning with a majority landslide. Even the Tamil Organization president, Ganesh Jaygan, said he supported the PM fully. He said that after Mahatma Gandhi, it was only Narendra Modi who had captured people’s imagination within India and internationally. His presence in Australia after only a few months in office was therefore a great opportunity for Indians residing in that country.

During the great journey from Melbourne to Sydney, four carriages were decorated with colors of the Indian flag. At the carriage doorways, there were mango leaves hung to signify an important Hindu ritual. While in the train, there was singing, dancing and constant chants of “Modi, Modi, Modi”. Traditional dishes from Modi’s homestead of Gujarat were also served to enthusiastic passengers.

Most Indians inside the train were strangers to each other until the moment they hired the train to Sydney. By the time they were halfway through the journey, they had forged friendships and shared a common bond. Travelling in the train had been borne just few weeks after supporters of Modi’s party decided they needed to travel to Sydney during the ministerial address. Even though they had planned a basic journey, the organizers were surprised to have a full party. Most of them said Modi represented hope for a country that had been wrought to its knees by corruption and bad governance. They could not therefore miss his public address for any reason.
